WW1 Record Arthur Harvey
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 03:03 GMT (UK) »

Hi All,

The name of the soldier and of his parents fit my tree. My people with the same name lived in East Riding . If this is the same family it means they had moved south. Francis his father was a school inspector. Can anyone help confirm this is indeed my "Arthur" originally from East Riding or point me in the right direction.

Service Number: 4337

Other Details: 23rd April 1917. Age 20. Son of Francis and Helen Harvey of "Pinehaven"20 Watcombe Rd. West Southbourne Bournemouth. Scholar of Selwyn College Cambridge. Bay 1
Date of Death:
War/Conflict: WW I

The official publication Soldiers Died in the Great War (SDGW) lists the birthplace of most listed.  That might help you confirm this. Someone on here may have access to this and would search for you.  Might mean a new thread.  Otherwise you could pay for access on www.findmypast. And there are always people on the Great War Forum who would check this out for you.

Hi,
I already have the family in the 1901 census and also in a listing for 1904/6 so perhaps I should try to follow them up via Francis employment records. Any suggestions how to go about it?
Is the official publication SoldiersDied in the Great War a cd ? Is it available on the net?
I'll check out Find my past too.

Thank you  both,

Hi again

SDGW is available on Findmypast. Also available in the original volumes in some libraries or as a CD (just Google for more info).  There are always members of the Great War Forum who will do a free lookup for you.
