Oh no, more problems, please help me if you can. I have the above Thomas as the son of James DORSETT and Rachel nee WOODBRIDGE, P Risborough all. Have him married to Sarah BLICK in 1854, P Risb.
The ROADS family (rootsweb) project, I have just noticed, has Thomas as the son of John DORSETT and ELizabeth nee WELLS. Bother, bother, bother.
Can anyone establish which of the DORSETTS he belongs to? I will be very glad indeed if that is possible.
My thanks.

I can see this family in 1841,
1841 HO107/42/13 f.4 p.3 & f.5 p.4 Princes Risborough White Lion Street // DORSETT John 40 Chair M Elizabeth 40 Emma 14 Hannah 11 Ellen 9 Eliza 6 Thomas 3 / Sarah NOWENS? 60 All born in County //
and in 1851,
1851 HO107/1720 f.507 p.22 Princes Risborough Parkfield
John DORSET Head M 53 Chair Turner Elizabeth Wife M 52 Lacemaker Thomas Son U 13 Ag Lab John Son U 8 Scholar All born Bucks Prs Risboro
the other Thomas DORSETT is here, transcribed as age 12 but looking at the other numbers on the page I think it is 18,
1851 HO107/1720 f.582 p.7 Saunderton Parsonage Farm
Thomas DORSETT Serv U 18? Ag Lab Bucks Pr Risboro
Living in the household of James DELL.
In 1861 the younger Thomas is here,
1861 RG09/859 f.24 p.15 Hughenden Green Street
Thomas DORSETT Lodger Unm 23 Chair Maker Bucks Pr Risboro
Living in the Household of Richard CHILDS.
'Your' Thomas DORSETT is already married to Sarah in 1861 RG9/862 f.17 p.27 (let me know if you need this transcribing).
So it does look like he is the elder Thomas, son of James and Rachel, but the best way to be sure would be to get the marriage cert. and confirm the name of his father.
Regards Daisy

Thanks Daisy and Mum44 - I think that will be sufficient for me. I needed to be clear on the ages of each Thomas and now I am. Very grateful to you. Best wishes

Hi Maxdog,
I have looked through the PR 's for you today ...
John Dorsett bap Sept 12 1830 born 1797. Was baptised as an infant but publically admitted to the church on this day. Son of Timothy & Ann
James Dorsett b 1807
Baptised 1831 son of Timothy & Ann.
Thomas Dorsett bapt 1833 son of James & Rachel.
The whole Dorsett family baptised their children late it seems John & Elizabeth had a mass baptism in 1830 for 5 of their children.
The Roads site is flawed, I have around 10 mistakes for my family on there that I have found so far, again wrong children attributed wrong dates or names crossed.

Tazzie, thank you so much, I have been trying to establish a link between the families of John and James for months - can be seen from the naming of the children but hard to prove. I am very grateful indeed for the parentage of them both. Hurrah, many thanks.
