Sarah Emmett
« on: Tuesday 04 March 08 12:00 GMT (UK) »

I am trying to find out what happened to Sarah Emmett born 1867 to Henry & Sarah Hatch,  she was a sister to my grt.grandfather Noah.   I have looked on free bmd and Family Search but can find nothing that I feel is relevant.   They lived in the Bishops Waltham/Lower Upham area of Hampshire.  I would like to know when and who she married if poss.  Or even if she married at all.   How long did she live at home etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.    Jollery

Hello Jollery

In 1901 she was a domestic servant in the house of Samuel Moses, in Hackney.   She says born Ashton (goes with Bishops Waltham)
RG12. P. 205 Fol 60 Pg. 32

Afraid I can't find her in 1901 -

Thanks mum,   At least thats a start, and yes it probably would have been Ashton, which I know is between Upham and Bishops Waltham.

Thanks for that.     Jollery

I looked for a possible marriage between 1891 and 1901.  There are none registered in Droxford, but there is one in Fareham which I think is very likely:

Sarah Emmett married Q3 1893 Fareham  2b. 1086
on the same page William Henry Lewis

and then on 1901 census :
RG13. P. 1015 Fol 15 Pg. 21

William H Lewis  Head  M  41  Bricklayer labourer B. Hants Fareham
Sarah  Lewis  Wife  M  36  B. Hants, Ashton ### Waltham (can't read ###)
George Lewis  Son  6  B. Hants Fareham
Albert Lewis  Son  7 mths  B.  Hants Fareham

Living 1 Nelson Court, Porchester, Hants

What do you think?

Suzard:  I'd looked up and typed - so I'm posting !
