had a look for ann in 1891 census unfortunately there are two almost identical
think you would need to send for the marr.cert which has been posted by tarnee
you should then be able to find her fathers name and occupation

Hi Maggie

Welcome again to Rootschat.

These people are wonderful and they've given me loads of help.

If you go to the link below, wiganworld is amazing.  Photo's, records, boards etc.

Clicking on "Styuff" will take you to loads of records.

In particular, you can search the cemetery records and I think the next link will be the Roby's, followed by the cemetery search.

I've had qhite a few bits off this site, including a newspaper snippet about a gggrandfather arresting some early morning drinkers!

Two James Roby's here.

Enjoy your family history.

There is a Margaret Lawrence married to a Thomas Roby St. John,Pemberton 1872 and the 1881 census says James has a middle name of Lawrence.   There is a Margaret Lawrence born 1847 Pemberton   Wigan & Leigh which could be Thomas's wife. Norma_jess
