Sturgeon and McKenzie 1907 Marriage
« on: Wednesday 05 March 08 06:39 GMT (UK) »

Hello All
I've been cruising along, finding information and documentation on my husbands family and have, by chance, discovered that his grandfather, James Sloan Sturgeon had been married for twenty years to a Mary McKenzie from Ross and Cromarty, before he married who we thought was his only wife Isabella Grace Duncan.  I only pursued it after I noted he is listed as a widower on his marriage certificate to Isabella.

Mary McKenzie died in 1927 in Berwick but I wonder if they had any children in between?  It would be fantastic to find any children from this hushed up 1st marriage but how do I find these possible relatives without dates, names, sex or place of birth?  I've used the Scotlandspeople site and done a general search but it brings back too many to search plus parents names are not listed.  My husband has no other family - i'd love to find him someone from the same blood line who might even look like him.

Mary McKenzies father looks like Roderick McKenzie and her mother Annie, who seems to have had McKenzie as her maiden name too.  This information is from the 1907 marriage certificate of James and Mary conducted at Alness-Ferry(?) in the Parish of Resolis(?)

Any direction on how to find any children from this marriage would be greatly appreciated.  I'm in rural Western Australia so finding hardcopy will prove impossible...thank goodness for the internet and for you lovely people over there!

Thank you for that info - no wonder Resolis was proving a bit of a mystery!
