Can anybody give me some tips on how best to proceed with my research?
I have William Maundrill born C1780 in Timsbury Somerset marries Sarah (unknown but may be Cadbury) born C1783 in Devizes Wiltshire. Their first child was Mary Maundrill born 6 Oct 1807 in Timsbury Somerset.
I already checked for the marriage in Timsbury Somerset – not found. I would like to check for the marriage in Devizes, hopefully this might give me Sarah’s surname.
I intend visiting Devizes and Timsbury in the next couple of months, can anybody suggest where I can view the OPRs for each of these towns. Also any other information that would help me further my research of my ancestors.
Thank You Tom

Checking the IGI I cannot see your Williams marriage but I did notice that it appears to be Maundrell on all of them

Patrish -
Yes there are some variants of Maundrill, and Maundrell is very common

As you rightly say Maundrell is very common, out of the 400 I looked at only 27 were Maundrill.

Hi Bluedooo, Depends how much time you have and how determined you are. Personally. in your position, I would travel the 10 miles between Devizes & Chippenham and visit the brand new state of the art Wiltshire records office. You will find all sorts of things there that you will not find anywhere else. The staff are very helpful. You will need to take something like a passport to get your readers ticket which will also be good for other county record offices. Taunton is also a very helpful place fro Somerset records. It may also be worth while phoning beforehand to make a booking as sometimes microfiche readers are pretty busy. Their tel. no is 01249 705500 Good luck. Toby.
