If you were born in Newsham N Yorkshire...which church are you most likely to be christened in.....was there a church there or would one have to venture out of the village..
Im looking for Parvins that might have been christened there!!
Thanks

Newsham is in the ancient parish of Kirby Ravensworth and the nearest church in that parish I think is St Jame's church at Dalton. Genuki lists the locations of the parish records at
Fife - Co?per, Dun, Jackson NE England - Harland, Hasted, Heaviside, Longridge, Thompson SE England - Drawbridge, Hall, Hayward, Howard, Newell, Seward, Slade, Smith
I have John Parvin b 1811 Sandhutton-Thirsk on all cencus exept 1861 where he give pob as Newsham and I cant find a birth or baptism in either place but there is one in Kirkby Wiske so maybe that is him.
Thanks again for replying its very much appreciated

Yes, forget about Kirkby Ravensworth, which I got by looking for Newsham on Streetmap. I have now checked Kirby Wiske on Genuki and found that it also includes a place called Newsham.
This page has a link to the whereabouts of the Kirby Wiske records. Sorry I chose the wrong Newsham first time.
Good luck
