I have a marriage for John Springall and Catherine Allam at All Saints with Holy Trinity, Great Marlow, on 28 July 1774. The witnesses were George Allam and Thomas Allam.
This information is from a search carried out by Bucks FHS. Unfortunately their baptisms and burials database doesn't include Great Marlow.
I'm hoping someone could look for the baptisms of John Springall and Catherine Allam in Great Marlow? I suppose the timescale would be around 1740 to 1758.
Many thanks
Anne

Hi Jill
Thanks a lot for this - I can rely on you to come up with the goods!
So, no John Springall in Great Marlow and he doesn't show on the baptisms search from Bucks FHS either. I shall have to check carefully which parishes are covered by the search, and have a think.
His father might be a James, as they called their first two sons James. They both died, then they seemed to give up on James and try John. The first of those died too.

Thanks Jill, that's certainly a possible. I hadn't seen it. I get the impression they were quite a mobile lot.
And thanks too Kaysy - I am sending you a pm.

Yes, I believe this is my family in Reading. Son James baptised Great Marlow 1781 was buried at Reading St Laurence in 1788, aged 7. The John Springle you mention died, buried at Reading St Giles a couple of days after his baptism. John and Catherine had another John in 1789, and a Samuel in 1792, both baptised at Reading St Laurence, as well as Sarah Ann.
My husband is descended from the second John, who is down as born in Marlow in 1851! It took me a long time to track him down!

Thanks again Kaycy
You have confirmed my suspicions that there must have been another child between the first James and Hannah. This couple lost an awful lot of children! Two in Great Marlow, and another two in Reading, out of a total of eight.

Hi Anne, Sorry made a mistake in Baptism of James he was Baptised 16.4,1781, not 1771. I have the marriages on microfiche and baptisms at All Saints Gt Marlow 1688-1907 and Burials 1688-1940. Will sort out Marriages, Baptisms and Burials for you. Will have to be later as I have to take my wife to a meeting. Kind Regards, Kaysy

Kaysy,
I hope you don't mind me asking, but, when you have the time, would it be possible for you to do a few look ups for me in GM burials? If I'm being too cheeky, just ignore me!!
John FRITH - I believe buried Dec 1802 - is there any other info ? Ditto his son John Frith buried 14 Jan 1829 - any other info? Are there any other John Frith burials (not infants) up to 1847?
Edward JONES - is there a burial for him about 1791-1860?
PHILLIPS - any burials for Samuel/John/Mary/Ann up to about 1790 (again, not infants)
ABBOTT - any burials for William or Ann up to about 1720 (again, not infants)
HARMAN/HAMON etc - any burials for adult Alice/William/Jone/Elizabeth up to about 1750
STOP(PE) - any adult burials for William/Ann/James/Joane up to about 1775.
It would be a great help if you came up with any answers.
Jill
