Harry Gibson Hankins was born c1883 to parents Edward & Susan, Edward was the sub-Postmaster in Mylor. In 1901 Harry is 18 and his occupation is listed as a Gardener (domestic), he is still living in the family home with his parents and siblings. After the 1901 census the only info I can find on Harry is his entry on the CWGC which states he served with the DCLI, date of death 23rd April 1917. I found his Medal Card on Ancestry but unfortunately haven`t had any luck tracing further records so maybe his were among those that were damaged. What I`d really like to know is did he ever marry, and if so where? I`ve trawled through the Marriage Indexes and found just two possibilities, neither in Cornwall which is where I would have expected him to marry. If anyone can help in any way I`d be very grateful

Sorry if you already have this
Have you tried posting on the WW1 site and asking someone to look up his SDGW.
Someone did this for my Grandad and it told me where he enlisted, which might help you know where he was at that time.

Umm....
I just go to Home Page and scroll down to Armed forces and then hit WW1
Still learning my way around myself! I think its (Soldier Died Great War search) and although much was the same as CWGC the enrolement was useful.
Good Luck
