How do I trace a marriage from the 1820's?

Hi
Just to warn you that the IGI on familysearch is not complete coverage so don't despair if you fail to find the marriage as the parish you want may not be on there.    If you can get to the local record office then they will have films or transcripts of all the churches in their area.   You can also order films to search at your nearest LDS centre.  They are listed on the familysearch site and are very useful places if you are near one.   They are worldwide.
The Family History Society for the area may have published transcripts too.
Hope you find it.

Thanks Andrea,
I did find one of the 2 marriages that I was looking for, and possibly the second, but as I am not sure of the maiden name on thr 2cnd one I've got yo do some more checking.
   Thanks, Pat

just a word of warning with regard to family search
there are two kinds of entries submitted ones and extracted ones
quiet a lot of submitted ones are pure fantasy so should not be relied on
the extracted ones are a better guideline.
www.dorset-opc.com/
this link takes you to a very good site which has parish records for various counties as well as dorset.

Thanks Wozzle,
i found the site you suggested last night very easy to negotiate. It was not one I had found before. As you say, I'm finding out it's best to check and double check before adding people or events to my tree.
This is such a helpful site. I've only been a member for about a month, and I can't believe how much I've learnt, and how much help I'm getting. A public thank you to you all.

    Cheers, Pat
