looking for a rachel saunders abt 1888,
trained as a nurse believed trained at st Thomas London
later worked for lady amherst at Diddlington hall/ foulden hall

married  B Dobson who was believed killed in ww1
found her on the 1901 cenus living in kirkby on bain cant find a marrage cert or any records hospital for staff at the ime she trained or a marrage date for her.
can anyone help

Hi, there is a Rachel Saunders born Kirkby on Bain daughter of Alfred and Susan, Rachel is 2 in the 1891 census with sisters Kate 3 and Agnes 1.

hi thanksfor that but we where hopping someone could help with her life after she left home, we no that a round 1937 she came back home to helplook after her sisters kids as susan had died, she stayed and helped bring them up
but we cant get any lerads on her training asa nurse or anythink before 1937

His death is on the CWGC site http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp?menuid=14

John Benjamin DOBSON - Private, 2nd Btn Lincs Regt.

Died 21 Mar 1918 aged 27.

"Son of William and Louisa Dobson, of Wragby, Lincs; husband of Rachel Dobson, of 17, Gourley's Rd., Newland, Lincoln."

How sad - they had only been married a few months when he died.

this my girlfriends great ant,
thanks for time effort in finding this
we had tryed every where but we couldnt find her husband
the family only new him as benjamin.
his wifes sister lived 17, Gourley's Rd., Newland, Lincoln."
but the street was 17, Gourley's row that was the only bit that didnt fit in this street has now gone.
he died at the battle of the Somme a real hero

Just wanted to thank you for this information, i can now start to piece together the life of my mothers auntie (who brought her up from the age of  3 after her mothers death). My mother was stunned that at last she may be able to learn more about her family, Rachel in particular, as to her she was the only mother she knew. You have made a 74 year old lady very happy.
