I'm looking for a Alfred B. FRASER b 1805 and wife Jane b 1809 in the 1841 census of Bishopwearmouth.  Sorry, no more details Undecided

Hi can anyone take a look at this 1841 census please and see what they think just wondering if there could be an error because all of the children from 1851 census who would have been born at the  right time
1841 h0107 piece 297 folio 6 page 7 jarrow south shields
all born durham england
jane frazier age 30 born 1811
james frazier age 9
margaret       age 7
william           age 5
george age    age 3
catherine       8 months
then it has head alex but when zoom in and look im not sure and guess what he is a grocer

The 1841 you found, lynnej certainly seems to me to be the same family with head Alex. - he seems to be Alfred Bradshaw on the marriage I found on the other link Undecided

Hi Is the 1851 census above not jane fraser widow with family not with archibald in 1851 like the other 1851 census has not sure how to link these two threads either

Yes you're right, the one you found in 1841 has head Alex who is a grocer, and not a schoolteacher like the Archibald I found in 1851, but I think Archibald has the right wife Jane Roseberry, as the sister-in-law and niece staying with him are the ones on the 1841 census with Robert, that Linda had originally found on the other thread.  Trouble is I can't seem to find Archibald/Alfred in 1841, can you?

I think maybe Archibald is a mistake on the 1851 and should be Alfred, and the family on this thread is the wrong one.  I think the baptism for James Roseberry Fraser in Sunderland that lynnej found relates to the family on the other thread as this one is South Shields and the other is Bishopwearmouth (Sunderland)

Gosh what a can of worms I opened!  I do thank you all for your time, effort and help!  My Jane was definitely born in Bishopwearmouth, and I tend to lean towards Barbara's explanation.

I will keep all for future use, just in case.

So we still need to find Archibald/Alfred (b.Scotland) and Jane Fraser in 1841 + son James aged 7 both born Bishopwearmouth, as per original enquiry....

Hi barbara, sorry to much guess work going on for me,alfred could have died archibald could be his brother,on your 1851 census other thread there is
archibald age 45 born scotland
jane        age 45 born bishopwearmouth
james son  age 17
mary j daugh age 1
Its a big gap 16 years between births maybe If linda buys birth certificate for mary j fraser age 1 It will give her fathers name and mothers maiden name

Just sorting the census entries for him then, he is a Grocer in 1861/1871 not a schoolmaster as in 1851??:

so now to trace Alfred B if he exists (maybe they're one and the same?) and to find this family in 1841

death reg for Dec 1850  FRASER    Alexander  S Shields  24/125 which must relate to the other family found 1841/51 South Shields, which ties that bit up, (not 'our' Jane)

I'm going to print this all out and go over it with a fine tooth comb and try to figure out who belongs to who.  As you say Lynne I will have to buy a certificate or two I think.
