Lexden.....PERRY post 1900
« on: Sunday 09 March 08 17:19 GMT (UK) »

Hi
Please can anyone help.

I am looking for children born to Arthur and Edith (nee Youell) PERRY
of FINGRINGHOE, ESSEX.

My own Grandfather was registered at Lexden in 1901...Maurice Frederick. I am having difficulty establishing other brothers and sisters...I know my grandfather was one of 10 or 11, I have so far found 4 elder siblings. As there appears  to be 2 or 3 Perry families registering within Lexden, it is difficult to establish who belongs to who,so I was hoping that someone may have access to the Parish records, for possible baptisms between 1901 to 1910..I do hope they stayed in the area as the family did appear to move around.

For clarification Arthurs occupation was a sanitary inspector...as a nurse I like to thnk I may have carried on this family tradition!!

Thank you so much to anyone who may be able to help....meggylux

Hi

Mothers maiden names are shown against birth entries from the September quarter of 1911 which may help with any children born after that date

Unfortunately - prior to then there are no "clues" apart from the name and registration district

Thanks

I was aware of this, there are no births post Sept 1911  listed for my family andhow I am able to restrict search to1901/10 my only hope other than wait until 1911 census is published is if  someone could kindly access the parish records.

Of course I am then also reliant on this somewhat bohemian family baptising their children

To check parish records for those periods you would need the following info to help narrow down the search

The year and quarter in which the birth took place

The church in which it took place as it would be unrealistic to search every single churches records as baptisms could take place months after a birth - if at all

Ah well another dead end. I wlll have to wait for a few more years.

I acknowledge that the request was a long shot, sheer desperation to move on.

Having done some searches in my local records office for others, some easy, some hard, thought it was worth a try.. (karma and all that)

Thanks anyway

Yes
Thanks very much, I have this info and there are errors within the 1891 census, Ernest actually being Edith my g.granny...a long story and discussed within Essex rootschat.

My whole problem is that Arthur was born in south America and the GRO page for A Perrys born abroad is missing...just my luck.

I have searched the census backwards forwards and sideways and cannot find his father either...marriage certificate states he is a George Perry and his occupation was a surgeon...there just doesn't semm to be a match that would fit the time line...although there is  a John George, who did travel around, I found him through a google search, he was a member of the Royal Astronomical society, which would fit with my Grandfathers own interest, but I have no concrete evidence and I am sure  that a legal certificate would have the correct name...but who knows. As I have stated there was  a marriage for a George Perry?Parry in Buenos Airies, and again Parry and Parrysefton were my grandfathers alias' and actual legal name change, however this Georges occupation doesn't fit.

Unfortunately due to a family rift, I never really got to know the paternal side of my family, only  little bits that my Dad would talk about and what my Mum can remember.

I know that my grandad went into business with his half brother John, a coal merchants..I think in Ruislip, in the 1930's but the business failed. I have today sent for a possible birth cert for John in the hope that I can access Arthurs first marriage, so that I may be able to work back through this...I cannot find Arthur on census pre 1891.

My grandfather Maurice Federick Perry legally changed his name in the 1970's to Paul Parry Sefton
He joined the royal flying corps in WW1, underage, my Mum says he had a war pension, but I have been unable to find him....but as already stated he was wont to use alias'.
In the early 1930's ,he, granny and a young Dad lived in France for a couple of years, he was a chauffeur for the French Licenciate (whatever that may be), on his return he was a test driver for Ford...and that's it really.
The whole family appear to be somewhat elusive, and I really would like to tie it all together and find out more. I remember an Uncle Les who was into photography...he was younger than my Grandad, I also think that half brother John emigrated either to Canada or Australia. I think a couple of brothers may have remained unmarried.

Thanks for taking the time to help......meggylux
