Could someone help by finding William Atterby for me in the 1851 Census? He was born in 1801 in Sibsey LIN and Married Ann Stephenson in 1851. Here's hoping

Are you sure about the marriage?

William ATTERBY 48 Laborer, Sibsey
Sarah (wife) 39 Boston Edited
Frances 11 Horncastle

William ATTERBY married Sarah WARSOP at Boston 6 May 1834.

According to FreeBMD it was Thomas ATTERBY who married the STEPHENSON woman.

Thomas Atterby aged 50 b.Sibsey  is living with an Ann Stefferson 28 housekeeper in Boston  1851 and married to a 38 yr old Ann in 1861

Oops! I think I was thrown out of sync by finding him with a wife.  Roll Eyes I have amended.


But I'd go for STEPPERSON for the housekeeper Wink  (and my index has SHEPPERSON!)

On 22 July 1851 at Boston St Botolph Thomas Atterby married Ann Stephenson.
The only transcription debate is to whether the vicar wrote Atterly or Atterby. Local knowledge means that I know that the name is supposed to be Atterby.
Details in the PR are:
page number 133 entry number 266.
Both are of full age. He's a bachelor, a machine man. She's a spinster, no occupation given.
Address for both is Mount Pleasant.
His father is William, her's is Joseph. Both are described as labourers.

If you're looking for Thomas on the 1851 on Ancestry, search under Atherby. (Definitely the enumerator's fault this time, because that is what he wrote.  Smiley )
