Hi,
I am doing a one name study of the Rossiter family and am looking for information please about the parents and siblings of Samuel Rossiter born circa 1844 in East Stonehouse.
I think this is him in the 1881 UK Census even though the age is slightly out:- http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/Census/household_record.asp?HOUSEHOLD_CODE=1881BR_2238807&HOUSEHOLD_SUB=1&frompage=99
Any information would be greatly appreciated.TIA.
Best wishes

Hi Sue,
Nice to hear from you.
Many thanks for that. I don't appear to have this James in my database. Can you check him out in the 1841 Census please? Hopefully I can link him to his family and the rest of his ancestors.
Best wishes

Hi Sue,
Thanks for that.
I found a death for a James Rossiter in East Stonehouse in 1852 and a Sarah Rossiter there in 1856.
Bath is a large area I suppose and there were a number of Rossiters from that area but recently I have had something of a "black hole" there with Rossiters being born here but not apppearing in evidence. Not sure how many churches there are there but I only know of St James Church & Bath Abbey.
I tried to find the family of a Bethya Rossiter who married in Bath but no luck so far.
Is there a marriage record at East Stonehouse for James and Sarah at all?
Best wishes

Hi Sue,
Thanks for that.
I did a search on LDS to try to find a marriage record but no luck and FreeBMD only works from Sept Qtr 1837. Only hope might be the BVRI or parish records.
As for Bethya, I have no year of birth but it would be about 1760 to 1770 because she married Henry Russ in 1792 at St James, Bath. Henry was born in 1766.
They had 6 children between 1793 and 1805. Two died in infancy and one married and moved to London. The others I know little or nothing about.
Best wishes

Hi Kris,
Many thanks for that.
It's going to be fun putting all this lot together.
James and Isabella seem familiar.
I think I've met them before somewhere.
Best wishes
