Can't find a death index

Hello all,

I can't find my great grandmother death indexes at all in Ancestry

Her name is Annie Eliza Brooks nee Rolfe b 27th June 1882.
Annie died 4 to 5 years after my grandad died in Sept 1969
I have searched from the the last q in 1969 through to 1983, i just can't find her after 3 times going through the demise indexes.

Annie's husband Arthur W died in 1943 and my dad said that his mum used to say to him we are going to see nana Gladstone.
I have also search the death indexed with the surname of Gladstone with the same time frame and still nothing.

She lived in Willesden sub district Kilburn most of her married life and until she passed away.

I wonder if anyone can check the death indexes to see if i missed her, i am sure i haven't...

Hi Pam,

So do you think she remarried after Arthur W died 1943? Are you certain she died just a few years after 1969, as I see you checked to 1983?

When you say you've been through the death indexes on ancestry, do you mean the partial freebmd ones (which aren't yet fully transcribed) or the full GRO index?
Did you look under Brookes as well as Brooks?

Hi Barbara,

My father is certain that she passed away within 4 to 5 years of my my grandfathers death. On the obituary it did say Mrs A Brooks (mother), but there is a couple of surnames which are not spelt right, as i have found out.
Checking upto 1983 was just a precaution

As for Annie marrying again, i am not sure, but i did check the marriage index and couldn't find her marriage to a Gladstone

I have only checked the full bmd index, i must admit i never have searched the partial freebmd indexes at Ancestry as i have always been told to search the full bmd indexes.

Checked 1969-1975 under Brooks/Brookes

Hope this is the right one!
Dec Qu 1870 Brent 5a 764 Annie Eliza Brooks date of birth 25 Je 1882

If you feel like paying £10 you can have a search done at Willesden burial registers to see if she's buried there, it comes under Brent council:

I think you should be able to order the death certificate through the site too, which may be quicker than the ONS
