I am interested in hearing from anyone with information relating to any Clark families from within the North Hertfordshire and South Bedfordshire area Regards bejay
There's a monumental inscription to a Clark family at Caldecote: Susan, wife of Thomas CLARK, died 6th Dec 1886 aged 69. Also Thomas CLARK, died 12th Aug 1874 aged 56. Also their daughter Emily, died 6th May 1869 aged 11. Also their son William, died 6th Jun 1864 aged 20.
At neighbouring Newnham there's a couple more: Leonard William died 9th Jan 1873 aged 5 weeks. Also Ethel, died 8th Jan 1875 aged 6 weeks, Children of the Rev. W E (or F) CLARK, vicar of this parish and his wife Fanny Henrietta.
Ernest CLARK, died 6th Jul 1979 aged 71.
and finally one at neighbouring Radwell: Robert CLARKE, died 12th Jan 1921 aged 88. Also Hannah, his wife died 4th Jan 1921 aged 79
None listed at Hinxworth. Hope that helps Richard.
Hi RichardK Thanks for the info Thomas & Susan were my GGGrand parents. I assume there is possibly a link with the Clark's from Newnham and possibly Radwell as in the early 1800s Caldecote had a population of about 50 and 24 of those were Clark's some of whom probably spread to the adjoining villages. So its back to the record books for me. Thanks again regards bejay:)
My Great great grandfather was George CLARK, born Hitchin, Herts, 1848, son of George CLARK, (b. abt 1820 in Buntingford, Herts) and Emma COTTON. They lived in Bedfordshire in 1861 and 1871 census.
