Dear Rootschatters, Below is part of the Will of Robert McLuckie (1805-1876) of Buchlyvie, Stirlingshire. 1876 detailing the whereabouts of his house and land in Buchlyvie town and the name of his farm, Clayfaulds. I have also copied the various census details giving various spelling variations of the farm.
Would anyone know the whereabouts of the farm (Clayfaulds) or exactly where the house would have been assuming it is not still standing? Would there be any members of the McLuckie family still in or around Stirlingshire descended from Robert McLuckie (carrier) and Margaret McKeriacher (various spelling) who would have been married in 1793, Kippen. I am connected through their daughter Margaret McLuckie (1806, Kippen) who married John Cassels. Regards, John .................................................................................... Hi John,
Clayfaulds Farm can be seen on this 1866 map: http://www.old-maps.co.uk/indexmappage2.aspx
If the link doesn't work, go to www.oldmaps.co.uk, key in Buchlyvie in the search and when you get the page, zoom in and 'under/south' of the village you'll see Clayfaulds. It's not very clear but at least you'll get an idea of the farm's whereabouts.
Anne
