Harvey Arthur WW1
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 03:13 UTC (UK) »

Hi all,

Commemorated at: Arras Memorial, France.

  Lance Corporal Arthur Harvey

Unit: "C" Company 1st Battalion Honourable Artillery Company
Service: Army
Service Number: 4337
Force Nationality: British Forces
Rank/Appointment: Lance Corporal
Commemorated at: Arras Memorial
Locality: Pas de Calais
Country: France
Other Details: 23rd April 1917. Age 20. Son of Francis and Helen Harvey of "Pinehaven"20 Watcombe Rd. West Southbourne Bournemouth. Scholar of Selwyn College Cambridge. Bay 1
Date of Death:
War/Conflict: WW I

Can anyone help confirm / or point me in the right direction that the soldier listed above was originally from east Riding in Yorkshire??? The names of the individuals concerned and also the ages fit my tree but it would have meant that the family had meved south to Bournemouth.  The soldiers father Francis was a school inspector.
Any help appreciated,
Thank you, Aljepeka

Hi aljepeka,

Have you looked for the family on 1901 census? Might confirm new location

There are 2 posible birth registrations for an Arthur Harvey in the East Riding:

Sept 1896  Beverley  and   Dec 1897  Scarbro'  (found on FreeBMD).

Would either of these locations fit in  with your information on the family?

Bournemouth was still in Hampshire in 1917, county boundaries were moved about 60 years later.

Thank you for your prompt response. I have the family in 1901 and also in listing for 1904. I am trying to confirm it is the same family so maybe I should try to look up Francis's employment record. I am unfamiliar with genealogy in England and its resources so it was good to know that I was in the wrong county Smiley .
Thank you,
