Hi,
Can anyone tell me how accurate the FREE BMD site is? I just found another entry on this for a Emma Jennings who married in Basingstoke in 1870, as always no husband or details of her birth.

Only as accurate as the transcribers copy from the scans, pretty good really.
Doesn't look as if you've used it fully though, when the entry comes up for Emma, click on the page no 245 and up comes her spouse, or at least the name that appears on the same page. Click on Basingstoke and up comes the list of places covered by that reg. district.

by checking the 1871 census:
1871 Charles Kelly with wife Emma and son William aged 2 months
Emma is 19 and born Basingstoke
so again, not yours

Oh Man!!!! I am seriously at the point where I am just about ready to give up on her. Where else could I look to find her, I even though about searching for marriages of the men that were in her area in 1861 but all of those came up with nothing too!

Maybe she joined her family after 1861
Can't find any record for her after the 1861 Census where she appears in Hampshire. So I gues that i am stuck. Have relooked on the IGI but can't find a record of Death/Marriage with any further details than the man married. Makes it kind of difficult. There are two more that appear in Hampshire, but i can't verfiy either.
Why have you been looking in Hampshire anyway? She was born in Wiltshire, was in Berks in 1851 if that's her, and in Wiltshire in 1861
You may not be able to find her, unless you can find a death, or find out where you saw her marriage to David Church

Hi everyone,
Still no luck on finding out what happened to Emma Jennings, can anyone do a lookup for me please? Still trying to locate a marriage for her, but really can't work out where to look next? It seems as though she disappears after 1861. Please!!!

Tanya, Would you like to post the full 1861 census details that you have for Emma in Hampshire? I thought I'd found her in Wiltshire in 1861 ~ see my reply #7 dated 11th March

Your are correct must have been a blonde day that day, LOL. Emma appears in 1861 at the Five All Inn's in St Mary Malborough Wiltshire as a barmaid in the employ of Henry Cox. After this point she disappears. There is a married couple the Abbotts, one married man Thomas Cook and One unmarried man John Stone (22) all boarding at the property. Emma is 26 yrs old at the time.

Sorry no sign of her after 1861
Maybe she emigrated or died.
Death Sep 1864 Faringdon 2c 171 Jennings Emma
maybe worth contacting the local register office to ask them to check her age in case this is your Emma.
Faringdon district covers an area not too far away, and Faringdon itself is about 20 miles from Marlborough http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/faringdon.html
