Spring cleaning my family tree,
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 13:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi  to all  :)
Disided I neaded a break from sorting through my paper trail of family branches  :)
I have a week off work, was going to do some decorating, but File's and paper's got in the way,  :o
nothing for it but to have a sort out  ::) so, 8 hrs later, and half a wheelie bin full of recycling paper , my family tree or should I say forest , has been cut back,  :o
I noticed I had lot's of copies of the same thing's. also item's that were really interesting that I had completly forgotten about  :)
the thing that really amazed me was , I did not get side tracked  ;D which is what happened to me in the past when I decided to have a sort through.
So I now believe I will sleep easier knowing my family has been spring cleaned. :)
also , I have load's more room to clutter up again  ;D ;D ;D

Congrats on the cleanup. I have done this once or twice and have been amazed at what I have found, forgotten about, etc. Enjoy it while it lasts, though. Mine didn't, and I am swamped again.  :o

I did similarly Eileen, such a paper waste, (although I used  both sides)  I now put notes or Copy & Paste to 'note-pad' then onto disc. sooooooooo tidy. Fits lots of 'stuff' !

Hi,

l have just spent my whole day cleaning up papers had them in an expanding file, finally got them into family files. l also had double ups and found things l had forgot even a big mistake :-[ on one family.

So after all this l  found this thread and really glad l was not the only one with mountains of paper, made me feel much better. :)

It's OK with springcleaning. It's just the never ending families you come across.  You know the feeling - 'I really should keep this one, it might be needed, after all, it's the same name, same time, same county and could be connected somewhere along the line and if I get rid of it, I can't remember how I found it anyhow!
I will do a spring clean as well, but I must remember the note-pad thingy as well.

I'm messy.  No doubt about it.  I've got two of those huge plastic tubs with clip on lids under my bed.  Both full of bits of paper, note-books, photo's of 'unknowns'.  I tried the note-pad/disc thing, but a piece of paper with something underlined with red high-lighter is so much more immediate than looking through computer files.    So I use both, but the muddled bits of paper suit me best !
