Where will I be able to access parish records for Kilburn, is there an archive nearby?

Thank you,

jen ,
If you live locally you might like to visit Birchwood methodist chapel
Birchwood lane
Somercotes
I can find out when they are open (think its a couple of mornings a week) - they have lots of local information and very helpful experiienced researchers

You can just drop in -don't have to be a member or anything - it's a brilliant place

Hi Suz,
no, Im not local, I'm  in Barnsley. I've just had a look on an online route finder and it says its about 1 and a half hours drive from here to Kilburn.  I don't drive so Im dependent on public transport.

Its a pity as that group sounds very interesting.

Will the records be at Derbyshire Records Office or some where more local to Kilburn/ Belper?

You would probably be better going to matlock records office or local studies

Will get back to you shortly with more info

The best place for you to go is matlock Archives (record office )-not Local Studies -not at county hall -someimes people do get mixed up.
You will find Kilburn record there -along with Alfreton and much more
The archives are about half way up new St  (which runs parrallel to bank Road.
There is a small car park.

it is best to book in advance if you want a machine as they are often fully booked -sometimes you can get one on the "offchance" but as you are travelling qute a way booking is advised.

County Hall number for main switchboard is
01629 580000
they will either put you through to archives -or give you a number to ring

Hope this helps -enjoy your trip
