Looking for the birth/baptism of Mary Kendrew, some time around 1760.
She married Matthew Iley in 1783, Brompton by Northallerton so am assuming she was born relatively locally.
The IGI has three possibles and I wondered whether anyone can help to confirm or eliminate any of these.
i) Mary Kendrew -baptised 25/1/1756, Topcliffe, father Christopher Kendrew
ii) Mary Kendrey - baptised 8/6/1756, Thirsk, father Robert Kendrey iii) Mary Kendra - baptised 28/10/1764, Alne, father James Kendra
I like the Thirsk one best because Alne is a little too far away and also because there was a Mary Kendrew marriage in Topcliffe in 1782, which seems to fit the one who was born there in 1756.
There are other marriages in the area for Mary Kendrew/Kendrey/Kendra so it is possible that none of the above births is mine but I am hoping that someone out there will be able to help.
Thanks,
Jen

Have you looked at other parish records or just the IGI? I am always a bit wary of claiming ancestors solely using that as it is not full coverage and there may be others out there that do not show up. If you cannot get to Northallerton record office then you can order local films for that area from your nearest LDS centre and search them there. That has the great advantage that you also see the deaths. Many a tree has been based on someone who died age 2! Again, the Dales FHS may be able to help you, as I advised on your other post. I take it Mary and Matthew did not survive to census time? They would be pretty ancient. Might they have left wills? Andrea
