Hi - my 3x grt grandfather Robert Cooke was born in Huntingdon about 1803 according to the 1851 census, he married Mary Ann Ashby in 1826 in Huntingdon and died in 1852, he was a woolen mercer & linen draper. I would love to find who his parents were so I could go back another generation

Ohhh - thank you so much for that David - that looks good, do you have any suggestions on how I might find out Williams occupation? I think Robert had a fairly substantial shop, it would be very interesting to find what his father did

Hunts FHS doesn't have a transcription for sale, but the register has been filmed by the LDS so that seems to be your best bet - your nearest LDS Family History Centre where you can order and view the microfilm. Unless of course Huntingdon Records Office is closer.
There are quite a few references to Robert on A2A at Cambridgeshire County Records Office-Huntingdon

Thanks again David, I have visited Hunts RO beofre but I was looking for my Campbells & Dears then, I shall have to try and arrange a trip for this summer. Meanwhile I shall have a play with the A2A indexes. Thanks for all
