Hi Kim
Also...arriving New York 16th September 1932 on the Aquitania
Elizabeth Atherton, age 35, Governess, born Wigan England Father, Aaron ? Atherton, Crabtree Green, LLandrindodd Wells, Wales Employer, Mrs. Elizabeth Parmentier, 447 East 57th Street, NYC

Dear Yvonne and Carolyn
Many, many thanks for your information. Yes, that is definitely my Aunt Bessie, as she was fondly known. What is amazing is, we never knew she had been out there that long, neither that she met John Grant there. She obviously brought him home to meet her father!! (Well, she was the favourite).
Not only has this information given us the knowledge of that, but also where my great grandfather was between the 1901 Wales Census and his death in 1941.
Great ladies, now I can hunt for that newspaper article.
Thanks again. Kim

Do you know where Elizabeth died? Or when/where John died? There might be more information if we could find that out.

Hi there
The only information regarding Elizabeth's death I have is that she died 29th Dec 1963. This info was scribed onto her parents grave in Llandrindod Wells, Wales.
Elizabeth never returned to England, so definitely died in USA. As for John, well I am afraid we have no information about him at all.
However, my mother does remember that they both came out of service and bought a restaurant on the New York waterfront. Again, I have no dates or knowledge of what the restaurant was called. It is such a shame the family lost touch before Elizabeth died. All those that would of known are now long gone.
Anyway, many thanks for trying to help with added information. You are most kind!
Best wishes Kim
