Wilts Parish look up please FAO Davierj
« on: Wednesday 12 March 08 19:50 GMT (UK) »

Hi, could I request a Parish look up for the Baptism of John Parrett[Perrett]  Census lists PL. Of B. as Bishops Fonthill C/ 1797.
Also, Ann Masters, C/1791 or 6.  I have several references concerning her PL. of B,- Donhead St. Mary, - Berwick St. Leonard, - and Berwick St. John,
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regret I was unable to find the baptisms on the dates and parishes given.

Thank-you for your kind attention to my request. I had searched the fiche of the Parish Reg. ordered from Salt Lake FHL. Unfortunately, the years I required were blank. Could you tell me if the Bishop's Transcripts contain the years 1790- 1800?

The Bishop's Transcripts are just fair copies of the Parish Records which were complete (as far as I can tell) for the years and places in question.   I rechecked and only came up with a baptism for an Ann Masters in Donhead St Mary 28 May 1772 dau of William and Mary.   The rest pulled a blank.

Hi Bunty3Black,

You might be intersted in this item I noticed on the Wilts County Council board:

Question Date : Monday 7th January 2008 10:05
Question:Could some one please tell me the Origins of the Perrett Surname in Wilts?

Answer:
The surname comes from a place name – North and South Perrott in neighbouring Somerset. You really need to get hold of a copy of

In Search of the Perretts, by George Perrett, G.E. Perrett, 1983, ISBN 0 9508557 0 7

You may be able to find a secondhand copy on Amazon or e-bay. There is also a Perrett (all spellings of the name) Society who publish a monthly newsletter; the last contact address I had was John P. Perrott, 24 Upper Stonehayes, Great Linford, Milton Keynes, Bucks, MK14 5ER. I think that they also have a web site.
