1900 - still Denver, Arapahoe, Colorado - California Street

Alex. Sutherland Widr.    92 (??)   b. May 1808    Musician    b. England (??) as were parents
Anna J.    dau.     22 (??)    b. March 1878    Teacher (school)
Francis E.   dau.  16           b. March 1884     Undertaker
(wonder if Francis, dau. should be son - undertaker seems unusual occupation for a girl and christian name spelt the male way).

States Alexander went to US in 1845 - naturalised - and confusingly he and parents all shown born England.

Sorry to be taking so long in posting - have got a sticky mouse!!

That's what I wanted to get a copy of at the archives today Lissa .... and his other papers if I could !

Sorry about your sticky mouse Annette !!  Grin but see what I mean about dodging about re birth places ??

Also even his funeral wasn't straight forward .... he had a Catholic funeral and was buried in a Catholic cemetery .... then 5 years later he was reburied in a Protestant cemetery .... ( his daughter "no name" said it was for religious reasons ! ) I went to find the grave today and there is NO headstone .... just grass !!  Tongue

Edit ........... AND he couldn't have been naturalised in 1845 .... he didn't come to America till AFTER the Crimean War so after 1856 !!

The reason I said Jessie ( for his wife ) on my first post was because - in very faint writing on the cemetery records ( when I went to the cemetery ) I thought it said buried with Jessie A ... but I'm wondering if it was daughter Anna J .... and if his son was a mortician .... that was handy wasn't it ??  Roll Eyes
