We are unable to find a family in 1861 who appear to be transcribed incorrectly and are hoping fresh eyes could locate them.

Would be worth contacting the Essex record office to see if they have any workhiuse records, to see if they give any further info e.g dates of admission and discharge.
by the way - why is this on the Herefordshire Board when all the action is in Essex?

Thank you so VERY much for your time and efforts searching for this family.
We received Mahala's birth cert and Henry and Ann's marriage yesterday but there were no addresses only Stanstead.
There is a 9 year old grandson James with Henry's parents James and Sarah in 1861 at Galley End, he is also with Sarah at Galley end in 1871.
Sorry we posted it on the wrong list Think we did post it on Essex too but did not get any replies, so guess you would not have helped if it was on that list ?

Actually I didnt notice which Board it was till I did that last post, I just picked it out when I looked at my "unread posts" as one that hadnt been resolved. The fact it was taking place in Essex was a bonus as that is where I live.
Actually it all did seem slightly familiar - maybe I have looked for them before for someone else!!!! Or more likely something similar.
modified: no, my memory must be playing tricks, I have just done a search on rootschat and there is not another thread finding Mahala Griggs!!!!
