Dear willow thanx 4 help we know very little about our grandfather let alone great-grandfather which is causing lots of confusion. We ave bought certificates but they r not our family.I havent got certificates so cant give info. we know william married mary jane that his father was thomas henry but we dont know if they originate from northeast or elsewhere. My dad was born in ashington so we believe they r gerdies. thats all we know. My dad does not know his parents birthdays he was in home form age 5 his mother died. Grandad went to yorkshire around 1936 only a guess
I understand how frustrating this must be for you. Lets try it from a different angle
Who are the witnesses on William and Marys marriage certificate? they might offer a clue
As Mary was b c 1889 I'm guessing William was about the same age (does it give his age on the marriage certificate?)
In 1891 there are 4 Williams with fathers Thomas with birth years ranging from 1880 to 1888 so there is a good chance it is one of these
They are all there in 1901 with their fathers. I'm wondering if Thomas henrys death is just listed with his first name. Between 1902 and 1911 there are the death of 8 Thomas who are old enough to be Williams father but 4 I have discounted because they would have been in their late 50s to 60s - not impossible I know but unless they had a younger wife she would be too old to be williams mother
1 - 1902 aged 64 castle ward - c 1864 - no william listed with someone that age in 1901 but 2 listed 1891 but both in their mid 20s 2 - 1903 aged 47 newcastle - c 1856 - one who has william listed 1901 aged 13 so this is a possible - they are in Elswick 3 - 1903 aged 62 Tynemouth - c 1841 - this one stands a good chance because there is one who has a son william aged 17 in 1901 and they are living in amble bedlington 4 - 1904 aged 64 Newcastle - c 1836 - only has a son William in 1891 but he is 25 and none in 1901 listed with their father
The death for Thomas Henry 1909 - I cant find a Thomas c 1860 with a william in 1901
If you want the details for the possibles let me know
