Hi

I am looking for a book Seaham Harbour: 1st hundred years by Tom McNee and David Angus.  Is there anyone who knows where to get a copy - it was produced about 15 years ago.  I have found a copy online for over £30 but know that one of the authors only sold the last of his copies a few months ago for £5.

I am in the south of England otherwise I'd be scouring the bookshops of the north for it!

Hi JoTH

Difficult one - it is a very scarce book and you may be lucky to come across it.

There seem to be several copies in different records offices - depends really if you just wanted to view one for information or keep it.

If I was in your position and wanted a copy to keep I would be buying a copy at any price.  Once they are out of print, they are a devil to find.

There are several companies on line that will do booksearches in shops/on line for you but then costs start escalating! Sad

If you are prepared to wait a lonnnnng time you may get a cheap one Huh Huh Huh

Guess only you know what a copy is worth - but Happy Hunting

Hi Su and Stan

Thanks for your replies.  My main concern about buying the book is that I haven't seen it.  One of the authors Dave Angus has a great website www.east-durham.co.uk which has some wonderful pictures (including a couple with my Dad in!), and I'm guessing his book will be similar.

I did purchase a book on the memories of Seaham and was really disappointed with it - hence my reservation in paying over the price for it.

Have either of you ever seen the book?

Joanna,
I have in front of me a copy of the book you mentioned and also "The Changing Face of Seaham 1928 - 1992" by Tom McNee, pictures by David Angus. I will gladly send both of them to you as they were complimentary ones that I had given. Hope this helps.
