There's a long thread on the Cambs board http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,291298.new.html#new which had covered much of the ground covered in this thread!
From the information now provided, Edward Stocker wasn't the father of James Stocker, a conclusion we'd already reached on the other thread
A pity Gwen didn't mention it

Hi Gwen
A2A at http://www.a2a.org.uk/search/index.asp has the following item
Salisbury Charter Trustees: The Chartered Borough Workhouse and Municipal Poor Relief Register of bastardy examinations Mother's surname: Lenton; Christian name: Mary Ann; Parish: Borough; Father's surname: Parsons; Christian name: James; Parish and occupation: Bemerton toll renter - ref. G23/1/147/52 - date: 1853
Bemerton is on the edge of Salisbury, but I can't find a James Parsons in either 1851 or 1861 with an occupation of Toll renter, or anything similar
To save possible duplication I suggest that any further posts be on the new thread that you opened on the Wiltshire board following my post at 00.54 this morning. In any event I think it's been firmly established that Cambridgeshire is a red herring so far as James Lenton/Stocker/Parsons is concerned
