Can any one help
parents of John laidler born abt 1803 city of Durham. I think he may have a brother Ralph b abt 1795 . Son of John - James Laidler born 1828 lord Mayor of Durham 1884. Seems to be strong connection to Elvet and St Oswalds.
Any help or suggestions gratefully accepted

Have you looked at www.familysearch.org     The IGI is a first port of call for that sort of date and it does have various possibilities.
Wills might be another source.

Noreen advised you to email York archives for a copy of the Mary Pettler marriage, did you do that?
