I've just checked the Standish register and it says exactly what Sue Teakle reported earlier from Phillimore's. Since it was such an early entry, there was no additional information about family.
Sorry, this doesn't help much, but I still think that one explanation could be that both of these Benjamins had a grandfather named Benjamin, and that their fathers were sons of that Benjamin, if you see what I mean.

Sorry you were unable to get any further with your research, especially after making the trip to the RO. It is so frustrating not to be able to get the answers you need. I only suggested the two Benjamins, because of the way children were named after grandparents, leading to a repetition of names within the family.
