I have found a marriage on the IGI of an Ann Bardy to a John Horseman on 25.11.1794 at Sutton on the Forest. I have an Ann Bardy in my tree born 1763 at Burton Leonard - father John. I know it is a long shot, but does anyone have access to the Sutton on Forest parish records and if so could they please look up the marriage to see if there are any further details, i.e. name of Ann's father, witnesses or where Ann was living. I am not sure just what details are in the marriage entries going back to the 1700s.
With very many thanks for any help on this one.

I am not sure how much help it is but this is what the record says:
Banns of marriage between John (I think it was HOUSEMAN) and Ann BARDY botp were published in this church on Sundays 9, 16 & 23 November by me John COOKSON. JH otp farmer, AB otp spinster. Married in this church by banns 25th day of November 1794 by me JC curate.
Thank you very much for looking up the record for me. Unfortunately, it doesn't help - I was hoping one of the witnesses may have been a Bardy and therefore related to Ann, or father's name would be given. Bardy is not a common name so there is every chance she belongs somewhere in my tree - it will be just working out where!
Many many thanks again.
Best wishes.

From IGI it looks as if John and Ann may have had at least two children baptised at Sutton on Forest Elizabeth in 1798 and Ann in 1806. Some of the baptism registers from this period gave quite a lot of information including parents's descent. Next time I am at the records office I will look these up for you and see if they give any more clues about Ann. It may be a few weeks before I get chance but watch this space!
IGI seems consistant with HORSEMAN so I probably misread the marriage record.
Many thanks for so much of your time. A shame the records do not help but that's genealogy, some we win, some we lose! Will keep this one on the back burner just in case.
Thank you again for all your help.
With best wishes.
