From about 1871 to after 1901 my ancestors had a bakery/grocery shop in Westbury Leigh. The first was William ALLEY (married 3 times -Emma Keates, Elizabeth Minty, , Hannah Hales) and then his son Thomas (married to Elizabeth Humphreys) took over. After that Thomas's son Norman (married to Florence Leybourne) took over until his death in 1918.
I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of "old" Westbury Leigh and would know if such a shop was or know anything of the ALLEY family around that time. William was a church elder and Thomas was apparently the local constable. I suppose I need the help of a local historian.
I am have a day or so to spend in Westbury Leigh this summer and would like as much information about the village/town as possible. Any help very much appreciated.

Yes, I have checked out the website and it is fascinating. I get caught up in looking at the photos from the different towns and villages. Unfortunately it did not really help me in finding the bakery/grocer's shop.
Thanks anyway, Kay
