Over two days about five years ago I received mails obviously intended for others.  Nothing  to do with me, addressed to others.  One was from a well known holiday company to a client regarding a ski ing holiday.

@ Gragareth,

that sounds like normal spam, could have come from anywhere.

@ everyone,

I'll summarise this topic, just to be sure we are all referring to the same problem:

I assume we are all referring to notification e-mails here. Regardless of who started the topic, in the normal course of events, anybody who has contributed to a topic will get an e-mail any time that anybody else replies to that topic.  The e-mails are general, i.e. totally unpersonal, and simply inform the recipients that somebody has added a reply to that topic.

You can choose to turn these notifications off, generally, or just for specific topics.

The problem as I understand it, is that some people are getting notification e-mails for a particular topic, although they have never contribute to this topic.

Before adding any more to this topic, please check your profiles.
=> Notifications and Email -> Current Topic Notifications
and see if the "culprit" is in this list.

If it is then you can click on the box on the right, and then on Unsubscribe to stop notifications.

Even if you didn't contribute to this topic, it is possible that you clicked on the "Notify" button without noticing.  Just one possiblity: some days RootsChat is slow loading and you think you are clicking on something else,  because you are used to things being faster.

If the topic is definitely not in your Current Topic Notifications then this is a glitch in the system.

regards,
Bob
