Hello Dean i

Would you please stop sending me your replies about family tree details that are nothing to do with us

Simon

Original Titel - Joseph Cronshaw Dean/Accrington
Split off from main topic as it appears to be a technical problem

I am not actually sending you anything - I don't even know who you are I'm afraid!    Perhaps I had better resign from Rootschat - goodbye all!

Slow down Sue, you ain't going nowhere  Grin

looks like some kind of technical mix-up here (which happens now and again) but no need to leave Rootschat.

I'm going to split this them from the main topic, so that it doesn't get sidetracked, and then we can try and get to the bottom of this......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@ Simon,
when you say "sending me your replies", what do you mean exactly, e-mail notifications ?
Dear Berlin Bob,
Thank you for trying to sort - I don't actually dare use the website again at the moment - might get into more trouble.    Please tell me when I can.   If it helps, my replies were for Tricia.    If you make me a "beginner" again I might try - I am not remotely computer literate and at nearer 70 than 60 am unlikely ever to be.    Meanwhile I will PM Tricia so that she knows, after all her help, that I didn't "just lose interest".
Sadly, Sue
Hi Sue,
of course you can carry on using the site - don't you dare leave us  Smiley Smiley Smiley
We only transferred your topic to Lancashire so that any Lancashire experts would find it more easily.
Just keep replying on your respective topics, and you'll be fine.
If any glitches happen, we'll sort it out.
Over two days about five years ago I received mails obviously intended for others.  Nothing  to do with me, addressed to others.  One was from a well known holiday company to a client regarding a ski ing holiday.
Tati- wonder if somehow you are down as receiving notification of postings from that topic- if you click the 'notify' button on that topic does it ask if you want to disable notification?
Yes I can disable the notification all right Smiley
I'm not actually particularly bothered - just thought I'd mention it because it concerns the very thread Simon was talking about  Smiley
Hi to all
We have notified the moderator of the notifications we have been receiving on our e-mail. I don't know how this started as we have posted no treads on this topic. Our apologies to Dean if we have caused upset. However despite the "split off", the problem remains. It's not a problem for us, just thought we should notify someone.
Hi Simon,
thanks for letting us know
@ Simon and Tati,
at the top and bottom of this (or any other) topic there is a Notify button.
If you click on this, do you get a message:
1) are you sure you wish to enable notification of new replies for this topic ?
or do you get this message:
2) are you sure you wish to disable notification of new replies for this topic ?
If you clicked on this this button by mistake (at any time), then you should get message 2)
If you get message 1) then we need to keep looking  Sad
I get
for both threads.
Really think there was some sort of glitch with the Cronshaw Dean thread. Was anybody else infected, or is it just Simon and me? Tongue Grin
Hi Tati,
so at least you can disable the notification  Smiley
Maybe you clicked the Notify without noticing / realising it ?
Now for some speculation, based on "wrong clicks" that I've also made.
Sometimes, when a site is running slow (not just RootsChat !), then I click on a link or button, expect the next page to come up and click on the bit I'm waiting for, before it actually "arrives".  Which means I hit something else. That's one possibility.
Another possibility is this: To save time, I sometimes click on a link while the page is still building. Then my my ad-blocker kicks in and the page suddenly shifts, so that I've actually clicked on something else.
I'm wondering if something like this has happened.
Otherwise, as you say,  there could be
Quote
some sort of glitch with the Cronshaw Dean thread.
I, too, had e-mail from Dean 1.  Did not mind though as it was a topic I am interested in.  Thank you
