It's just the village school in Belchford I think.

In the address column is "Board School".

Something about Board Schools here http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/EDboard.htm

Read about Belchford here (a bit about the school at the bottom of the page)

I don't know I'm afraid, but I know a man who does ... http://www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/e-docs/81385_1.pdf

It isn't clear from an aerial photograph which building the school might have been.

I don't understand what you're saying - 1901 census for Alf SLADEN says Board School (at Belchford), no mention of National School (at Horncastle).

1891 census has him at the National School at Toynton All Saints (about 10 miles SE of Belchford).  He was also there in 1881 "Certificated Schoolmaster".

sorry yes sometimes i get a bit confused !

Anyway we have actually been there today....

Its a tiny village really pretty and theres a tiny chapel...

we did find the school which yes is correct is now a nursing home...

But the Lovely thing is part of the home is still like the school the outer building etc...really lovely..

Its lovey to think we were where out Ancestors were...

Just need to find where they went next.

Many thanks for everyones time and patience with my questions.

Geoff,

In case you haven't seen Kelly's Directory, here's the entry for Belchford School for 1900:

"Board School (mixed), built in 1873, for 134 children; average attendance, 68; Alfred Sladen, master; Miss Lillian Budworth, infants' mistress."
