I would love to get a copy of my Great,Great Grandfathers birth certificate....He was called Joseph Taylor and he was born between (according to the ages he gave on the 1851-1901 census) 1844 and 1846. I know that his fathers name was Robert Taylor and his Mother was Jane or Jinny, she died between the 1851 and 1861 census. The family was living at "Littlemoor" on the 1841,1851 and 1861 census.
The problem is that Joseph Taylor is a common name and with the information that I have got, it isn't possible to decide which is the right one. I was hoping that if I can find a baptism entry for him, I might be able to narrow it down a bit.

Search by GRO
If you have done your own searching in the GRO indexes and have found more than one reference to the name you are researching, or are unsure which is the entry you require, the GRO offer reference checking online.
The charge is £7 for action on the first entry, which includes the cost of the certificate, and £3 for checking each subsequent reference against the information you have provided. You have the option of asking them to either stop at the first reference which agrees with your information or to check all references
You must give them one piece of information that you are sure will appear on the certificate for example, the exact date of the event or a parent(s) name(s). You must fill in the reference checking sheet which is accessed by pressing the reference checking button near the bottom of the page, and fill in all the fields that you would like the entry to be checked against before you press the 'Submit' button. A certificate will only be issued if the entry they check matches the checking point you give them.

Does anyone know which registration district would Littlemoor come under in the period of the 1840's Is it Wirksworth, Belper, Glossop or Hayfield?

Littlemoor is 2 miles from Ashover in Derbyhire, Ashover falls into Chesterfield Registration District so I believe Littlemoor will aslo be in the same district. Good luck
