« on: Monday 17 March 08 00:58 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to locate ancestors of Alexander Pringle b1822 Glasgow.
He came to new Zealand in 1840 leaving from Gravesend.
His last known address was High St Perth.
I have most of our families history in New Zealand & would like to
link it back to Scotland

Robert PRINGLE 3 mths - Y

1851: N80 High Street, Perth, Perthshire
Head: James PRINGLE, 53, Painter of houses, b Bellie, Banffshire
Wife: Helen PRINGLE 39, b Perthshire
Son: Robt PRINGLE 10, b Perth
Son: William PRINGLE 8, b Perth
Dau: Jean Ann PRINGLE 7, b Perth

The IGI has the wife/mother as Helen as Helen OLIPHANT.

He left Scotland as a 17 year old unmarried.
I understand his fathers name was also Alexander.
Looking at the ages of those you list  I will have to
sit down and check.
Thanks for getting back to me

In response to your second response, yes this is the same family.
I have all that & some more of the family since Alexander arrived in
NZ but would love to be able to link up with his family he left behind
in Scotland

I am trying to obtain a photograph or information about Alec Edward PRINGLE born about 1913 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire son of Alex Pringle (who was headteacher at Jacksdale School, Notts).  About 1928 the Pringle family emigrated to Australia, Alec studied at Sydney High School and later taught in New Zealand, Westport in 1931 1932.  The family then returned to the UK and Alec taught at Bolsover, Derbyshire. Alec was a Flight Lt with the RAF in WW2 and was shot down over France in 1940, aged 26.

I just wondered if there was any connection with your Pringle family of New Zealand?

Alec is listed on the Jacksdale War Memorial and we are trying to obtaina photograph of him for our records.

Thanks for inquiry.
My records show that none of my ancestors emigrated to Australia, but an 18 year old Alexander
came to Wellington New Zealand in 1822. I don't list an Alec Edward. Sorry I can't help.

Regards Mike
