any help appreciated.
i have my gt gt grandad in the 1861 census in stockport, cheshire, england.
michael horan head age 45 marr  tailor   ireland county mayo
ellen horan     wife   age 46 marr housewife  ireland county mayo
mary horan     dau   age 27 unm  factory worker  ireland county mayo
michael horan son   age 16 unm  factory worker  ireland county mayo
ellen horan     dau   age 9            scholar             stockport cheshire england
john lee        lodger age 29 marr labourer           ireland
bridget lee   lodger  age 25 marr factory worker ireland
mary ann lee "          age  6         scholar              stockport,cheshire,england
james lee      "          age  5         scholar              stockport,cheshire,england
michale mcgough lodg age 17    factory worker   ireland

the son michael horan married ann collins in stockport in 1866 and shows his father as michael a tailor.
they had a child called bartholomew arthur horan in 1869 in stockport and he then married jane mcloughlin in stockport in 1894.

any help of any kind would be greatly appreciated

Hi BB, have a look at this.  I notice there is a Bartholmew listed on the Griffiths Valuation.  Could he be a relative?

Civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages began in 1864 so for earlier dates in Ireland you need to search for church records (if they still exist). To do so you need to know at least the parish, if not actual townland, where the family lived in Ireland.
