I have an address for an ancestor, Donald MacDonald as Loch Mhor Hotel, Gorthlick, Nr Inverness in 1909. He worked as a coachman there. Googling hasn't come up with anything exactly right. I assume Gorthlick to be Lyne of Gorthleck, which is on Loch Mhor. Has anyone any ideas or access to a directory of the period?

Slater's 1911 Directory is on Am Baile.

Thanks Martin,
I've just a look - much fascinating stuff (got sidetracked by other lines of enquiry, as always) - but no mention of the Hotel I'm looking for

There is some interesting stuff in Am Baile!
Also worth checking the Highland Sites and Monuments Register which is linked from Am Baile, they sometimes have a picture.
The other site that will sometimes give a picture is CANMORE, the database of the Royal Commission of Ancient and Historic Monuments of Scotland. You can often find an obscure name through there and there can be anything from a brief description to a detailed description with photographs.
