Hi
I'm researching my Hoey line who migrated from Ireland to Lancashire.
I'm in Cumbria and I saw a family named Hoey quite a long time ago.
I discounted them as too much of a coincidence, but I'm beginning to wonder, as I realise there were a limitted number of kines in this country. I'm realising as well how many Irish people migrated to England through Scotland.
I'm wondering if anyone has any other entries for the Cumberland Hoey line.
this is what I have:
(1)Miss Nancy Hoey dressmaker died 1850, aged 25 years, at Egremont.
(2)1851 Census for Egremont.
Patrick Hoey 70 Pauper, formerly labourer b Ireland Wife Catherine Hoey 56 b Egremont
Any sightngs/ideas?
Thank you for looking!
Best wishes

Hi
Well that has confused me! I would never have thought of someone in Buckinghamshire! I'll have to think about that!
Thank you!

Hi Andrea
Thank you for that.
Yes I have looked before a few times and I've just checked again, and there's nothing at all close to it that my family ever used.
Thank you for the thought though.
Best wishes

Hi Belinda
Fancy seeinmg you too!
Yes, I'm not only on the board, but I'm in Cumbria too. I've not been up at the record offices much as I've not been fully on my feet, but hopefully, after Easter I will, and I've got quite a few bits in the house.
So if you've got anything you'd like looked for, let me know some dates or details, here or a pm, and I'll have a go - if you haven't got access yourself that is!
My Barrow St gggrandparents had two witnesses from up here, so I've been able to have go "on the door step!"
Good luck!
