Hamilton/Duncan
« Reply #15 on: Wednesday 19 November 08 13:03 UTC (UK) »

Hi Monica, calling on your help again. I left a post on the Fife site, you may have seen it but if not, here goes

Now my maternal side.

My gran Helen Duncan Hamilton was born Greenock 1888.

Her father James Hamilton was born 1853, don't know where. He died in Greenock 1894 aged 41) He married Helens mum Eliza Bews (from the Orkneys') in Leith Edinburgh in 1862. Eliza's address then was Kirkgate Leith, James was Greenock.

On James death cert (1894) it names his father as John Hamilton occupation Mason. No DoB or place and hiis mother Helen Duncan. It would appear Helen Duncan still alive in 1894? No DoB  or place either.  I did a marraige search, guessing years, and got posting of Banns in Markinch Fife 1845 for a John Hamilton, and a Helen Duncan. Confusingly there is also another Helen Duncan on the same cert??

Can you help?
Kind regards
Tommy

HI TOMMY

YOU SAID THAT YOUR GRANDAD WAS SAMUEL OWEN(S) FROM RENTON DUMBARTON.  HE WAS MY GRANDMOTHER, SUSAN OWEN(S)  YOUNG BROTHER.

WHEN I FIRST NOTICED YOUR POSTING, I THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT YOU WERE THE GRANDSON OF TOMMY OWEN FROM USA - DONALDA & BETTY).  HE IS MY MUM'S COUSIN. IF YOU'RE MY RELATIVE THEN YOU'LL KNOW WHAT I MEAN.  I'M 99 PERCENT SURE THAT YOU ARE.

HOPE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU SOON.

MARY
