Hi,does anyone recall anything about a cafe in Tamworth run by a Robert & Dollie Moore early/mid 1950's.It had green tiles on the front (outside)& was possibly opposite a garage???They were my Grandparents & I'd be very grateful for any info (good or bad).Thank-you, Oblivion

The name of the cafe may have been The Dew Drop in Lower Gungate. Garage opposite called Marmion garage or Rose Brothers a bit lower down. If it is the right place the building is now a florist. The green tiles are still there, a bit of a miracle for Tamworth! The tiles were made at Gibbs and Canning in Glascote. Hope this is the right location for your relatives Cafe. May be able to take a picture for you if you contact me by personal message with your details.

Hi Oblivion, I'm also researching MOOREs in Tamworth. Mine are the family of Charles and Sarah Agnes (both originally from Herefordshire). They arrived in Tamworth circa 1880 with 5 children, and had 3 more (Albert 1881, John 1884 and Thomas 1885) in Tamworth. Are any of these also in your tree? Sandra

The marriage cert of your two(from the 1901) will show who his father is for sure.
Robert Ernest Moore married Eliza Jane Raven in Warwick in Dec 1890 the ref is 6d page 1110.
I'll take a look tomorrow to see if I can find them in any of the previous censuses.
Carol

Hi, Those are his parents,on the wedding cert his father is 'Humphrey Moore deceased'-there's a man of that name in Leamington but he's too old,we wondered if he's one of this man's daughters illegitimate child? He was at North Surrey Industrial School & when he left went into the Navy-we have him intermitently from 1881-1901!Thanks for all your help. Oblivion
