« on: Wednesday 19 March 08 07:24 GMT (UK) »

Grateful for help please on finding more about  this marriage:-

1798 - Luke Evill, attorney -  married at Bath to Mifs Coyde only daughter of Mrs. Coyde of Hackney.

I know that Luke was born in 1770 and christened at St.Peter & St. Paul, Bath.

I know his bride was a  Rebecca Mason Coyde.

I know in later years he was a bankrupt.

Thank you........

Hi Emmeline,

I`ve checked my marriage resources for Bath and surrounding areas but can`t find a marriage for Luke Evill, I also tried various spelling possibilities of the surname.  If you take a look at this page on Genuki  http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/SOM/Bath/index.html you`ll see there are very few Bath Parishes with records for the 1790`s so maybe his marriage took place in one of those  Sad  Sorry I couldn`t be of help.

Hello Sue

Thank you for taking the time to look for my Luke Evill and wife. This is how his surname is spelt in all documentation I have.

I know that Rebecca came from a Non-conformist family - would this help in finding where they were married ?

Have looked on the bmdregister (Non-conformists) website and found Luke & Rebecca had numerous children born in Somerset  but nothing about the marriage.

Thank you again Sue.......

Hi Emmeline,

I think it would be a good idea for you to try and locate Non-conformist marriage records, if you contact the Records Office they may be able to help http://www.somerset.gov.uk/archives/
