Hi

My records show that she was Alma Emily Hayes born 24 May 1887 in Youarang, Victoria. Her father was David Hayes and her mother was Mary Stewart Sefton, commonly known as Polly. I have a photo of Alma with her parents and siblings. I also have one of Alma and "Archie"'s wedding with her 3 younger sisters as bridesmaids. Archie and Alma were married 31 Aug 1910 at her father's residence, "The Oaks" in Thornton, Victoria. Alma died 28 Jul 1941. She had two brothers and 3 sisters. One other sister had no children but the rest had lots.

I wonder if I can find the truth of her middle name on a family record? Are you interested?

Alma had a brother who was in the Light Horse, Harold Sefton Hayes. So her mother's surname was definitely Sefton not Hefton.

Hi Grace Joy Smiley

Welcome to rootschat.

I have checked the indexes and it is a typing error with the name HEFTON....index is SEFTON.  Easy to do when helping so many people.

A little more -

Another electoral roll listing which wouldn't have been available at time of previous postings.

Australian Electoral Roll
1937
BALDING Alma Emma  50 Bolingbroke Street, Pascoe Vale  Occupation Evangelist   M...surely this should be F Roll Eyes

Alma Emma BALDING aged 54 is buried at Fawkner Memorial Park and her grave is located at Methodist Compartment A Grave 492.  Date of burial 31 July, 1941.

There is a Will for Thomas Arthur BALDING on

The downloads are slow on PROV so you have to be patient.

Hello  there  Grace and welcome to Rootschat

Yes I did indeed transcribe  the surname wrong for the death, no excuse S is no where near H on the  qwerty keyboard.  I  have her name as Sefton in the family tree, so I do aopologise.

Thomas Archibald Balding was the son of William Balding and Annie Bayley.
Annie Bayley was the daughter of Thomas Adams Bayley who was the brother of my ggggf John Bayley.

Thomas Adams Bayley was a minister as were other family members.

Grub and I share a common ancestor. Grin

It would be very nice to see the photo of the wedding.

there is a will for Thos A Balding on Provic,
this is  Thomas Archibald Balding that the will is for and  the correct person in  this case.   He leaves it all to his wife Alma EMMA Balding  (except for the odd bequest etc )
so  one could maybe assume  that her middle name was EMMA.

Thanks Cando for the further information.
