Can anybody please decipher/explain the occupation of William John Elworthy.

Born about 1875 Molland, residing Bishop's Nympton, Devon, with father John = farmer etc

Looks like 'F Rel'?

Hi Tufty,

It looks like F Rel to me also. All that springs to mind with farming families is we see Farmers son/daughter/nephew/relative etc meaning they were working on the farm. I suspect this is an abbreviation for Farmers Relative.

Looking Further: There is a nephew described on the next page in the same way written under it "works on the farm" also a list of farmers sons and daughters and written next to it F Rel. Seems to be the enumerators way of describing family members working on the farm.

Hi

His father was a farmer and I think it's meant to read "farmers relative" F/Rel

Never seen it before - usually it's farmers son or daughter
