Hi Please could someone kindly look up and see if there was a Maud Maria Perry or Reading in the Alverstoke area? Gosport Southampton in the 1901 census and was born abt 1882 and maybe married to Thomas Perry. Also is there any record of a marriage of Thomas Perry born 1880 between 1898 1900 in this area. Regards Anne

I cant see a Maude Maria Perry in 1901 in that area, but there is a Nellie M Reading b about 1882 in Portsmouth, with widowed mother Jessie E Reading.
Cant see a marriage on the free bmd.

Hi Maud Maria Reading was born in Warwickshire but moved to the southampton area after 1891 and its possible she married Thomas Perry between 1899 -1901. Regards Anne

Hi Anne
What makes you so sure she was down in Hampshire by the 1901 census, and that she married Thomas Perry. Have looked for a Thomas Perry marriage to a Maud or Maria Reading, and so far have drawn a blank

Hi Ricky When I looked on the 1901 web site I saw a Maud M Perry at Alverstoke aged 19 born at Priors Hardwick it gives the county as Northants but it is in Warwickshire perhaps they made a mistake with the spelling of the surname. Thankyou very much for looking for me, yes she did have a sister at Droxford and a brother who was in the army and another sister in Berkshire but I have never been able to find Maud on the 1901 census they were my father's cousins. Regards Anne

Hi Anne,
Counties boarders have changed quite a lot over the years, probably at the time of the 1901 it may well have been in Northamptonshire not Warwickshire.
You always have to bear this in mind when searching for ancestors .
