Gormley-McGrann
« on: Wednesday 19 March 08 23:59 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for any information on the above mentioned families.
There might be a Gormley living in Knockaginny ( hope I got that spelled right)
Is there a telephone book that one can search on line to see if any Gormley or McGrann are in that area?
The family lived in Curlough and lived across the Black River in Monaghan.
Any ideas welcomed.

www.192.com covers Northern Ireland and www.eircomphonebook.ie covers the Republic.

Knocknaginney is in the parish of Aghaloo. My relatives come from there ,my greatgrandmother was Mary Grimes, sometimes shown as Gormley(this is from the Irish O Gairmleadhaigh)Sorry no connection that I know of with McGrann but I think I saw the name in the Catholic Parish records at PRONI Belfast. All I could ever find was a marriage and two baptisms.

Hello cornishgal, I have been searching for my Greatgrandmother mary Grimes/Graham/Gormley.I know she married Philip Henderson in 1849.There is a much older Philip Henderson in Derrycourtney which is right beside Curlagh and this family had land in both townlands.Does this name mean anything to you? There may also be a Rose Gormley(she acted as sponsor to one of Marys children) later when the family came to Belfast.I think she may have married a McKenna. It is really difficult when church records are hard to read and give scant information.Any help would be appreciated.
